Why vision therapy?

Vision Therapy at The VT Zone is designed to improve overall visual function and performance. It is a progressive method of training the eyes and brain to work together. VT produces measurable improvements in visual information processing skills, which results in improved performance at home and in school.

VT is an effective non-surgical treatment for common visual issues such as:

  • Amblyopia or Strabismus (lazy or crossed eyes)
  • Double vision
  • Skipping lines or losing your place while reading
  • Headaches after reading
  • Reversing/omitting words while reading
  • Difficulty keeping up in school

All Vision Therapy and Training programs start with a thorough wellness evaluation of the visual perceptual system. This 1.5-hour evaluation involves a series of tests followed by a detailed report explaining visual strengths and weaknesses along with the suggested treatment plan. After the evaluation, our Optometrist will determine the appropriate Vision Therapy or Training program from one of the following:

  • Vision Therapy
  • Academic Vision Training
  • Sports Vision Training

The Vision Therapy program is designed for the individual who needs a tailored and customized regimen to address visual issues in multiple areas. Patients will develop better visual efficiency and improve skills such as eye teaming, tracking, and focusing.

The length of this course is dependent on the severity of the underlying issue. The program minimum is 16 sessions and additional sessions may be necessary. After the halfway point, a progress evaluation will be scheduled to assess improvement and implement any changes necessary.

Academic Vision Training

Academic Vision Training is designed for scholars who would like to further develop the necessary visual skills for effective reading, writing, and learning. The program is structured to improve the eye movements that enhance learning by maximizing visual endurance.

This 10-week course is for the individual who is already performing at grade level, but would benefit from learning how to visually perform at a higher level.

Sports Vision Training

Sports Vision Training is designed for athletes who want to maximize their abilities on and off the field. This program focuses on developing hand-eye coordination and refining timing and tracking skills to give athletes an extra competitive edge.

This 10-week course is for the athlete who would like to learn new visual tools to take their skills to the next level.
